1/ I was born and raised in Hong Kong.
2/ I was once in the mid-west for a year
3/ I am not a native English speaker, but a native Cantonese speaker.

I didn't mean it to be harsh and I'm sorry you took offense. It's evident that you're not a native speaker. Most of the non-native speakers with whom I work accept some tweaking of their accents from the people around them. I accept gentle correction of my accent in the two other languages I've studied.
